Monday Musings: March 3, 2014 - Word/Phrase Prompt

Prompt: An imaginary trip

What to do: Write, film, compose, draw, paint, or otherwise express yourself based on the concept of imagining yourself somewhere other than you are (take a mental vacation). If you are open to sharing, just put a link to your inspired creation in the comments section of this post. :)

Prompt inspired by: Donegal Square and McCarthy's Restaurant (and Greg)

Living so close to tourist attractions has its perks as well as its frustrations. One of the perks for Greg and me is McCarthy's - good food surrounded by all things Celtic (which certainly appeals to the majority of my personal heritage). If you ever find yourself in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, don't skip Main Street in the historic district (north side). Stop in and have a pot or a pint. If you are lucky, maybe Furbish* will be there too...

*Donegal Square is a dog friendly shop. Furbish is the owner's "furkid".

My take on this week's prompt:

Shamrocks in Snow

A rare Saturday respite
sharing a pot of tea at McCarthy's.
Simply sitting quiet
watching the flurries
magically transform Bethlehem
into Belfast.

Actually my last poem was "a trip." Lol! The bad thing about being clever is people expect it of me. Happy to write good poetry but its hard to always "best" myself. I know you know what I mean. A mental vacation...I could stand a real one. I haven't had a vacation in over 40 years. Just a few short couple of days. I'll see what I can do.

To best oneself is a noble goal but don't let it prevent you from posting... ;) Just write! And... we both could use a real vacation but after 40 years, I think you need it more than I do. LOL! Granted it has been over 10 years for us but 40?! Goodness girl!

I know, lack of money is a constant in my life. I finally got a social worker and I'm going to try (if the state of CA will help) me get my own place. I am surprised my roommate hasn't closed me down completely but luckily I'm stronger than he is. Before this my X would never go on vacation he was a workaholic. I'll tell you this, I am glad I didn't marry this guy. Have a good hump and thanks for the encouragement! I appreciate your friendship as always Lettie, you have helped me stay writing in bad times and taught me so much last year! I hear you about the "just write" it's true.

I wish you the very best, Bekkie. Stay strong. Writing is like listening to the Blues for me... it's always a good place to turn in bad times. ;)
