Caught in a shaft
of unexpected sunlight,
I find myself
suspended
utterly immersed in beauty
and dancing as a dust mote--
small and insignificant,
held fast
by a warm and infinite
indifference.
This is really a beautiful write Lettie and I love your sites new look! You know I almost had a write like this but I choose the heavy handed finale. This week will be interesting because of the shaft of sunlight! Lol!
"held fast by a warm and infinite indifference" is such an interesting line....you have used "indifference" in a way that it is not normally used and the unexpected effect it has elicits a sense of vast beauty.
Thank you all! (I'm glad you like the new look, Eva.) I must admit my inspiration not only stemmed from Mag's prompt but also from a commentary by Graham Joyce speaking of his battle with aggressive lymphoma cancer. "There is a shocking and beautiful indifference at large in the universe, and I just have to work with it." If you are unfamiliar with this author, I invite you to sit with him for a while (http://www.grahamjoyce.co.uk/). May you all have a beautiful week... :) Thanks for taking the time to visit and to comment.
We are all small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Great piece!
ReplyDeleteThere really is something fascinating about dust particles. Nice piece.

ReplyDelete"immersed in beauty and dancing as a dust mote" . . . I know this feeling! Now there are words to describe it. Thank you, Lettie.
ReplyDeleteYou've perfectly described the photo. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteI like becoming a dust mote and the indifference there.

ReplyDeleteYou make art with words - this time to perfectly match an amazing photo!
ReplyDeleteI also like the bright new look of your blog!

Indifference? That word comes a little like a slap in the face, there at the end...
