Holding Hands

Without words,
the gentle pressure of fingers entwined
firmly reassures
that he's still here--
still steadfast and strong,
wading through the waters
beside me.

This one really hit home in a good way didn't it? I like it a lot! I too, felt the hand holdng and it reminded me of garandma. The Dutch Elms used to be the biggest trees in our neighborhood and I loved them. Then they got Dutch Elm disease and they had to come down. That's why I included them in my poem. A little bit of Indiana history. Have a good one!

Once again with just a few words you paint a masterpiece heavy with emotion. Tremendously moving.

It did... when Greg and I are out and we see an older couple holding hands (older than ourselves anyway) we always smile and reach for each other, telling ourselves that is a future to look forward to. :)

Thank you Andrea. It's good to know that the emotion comes through. I'm glad you liked it. :)
