Going Organic

Walking along wet streets further
dampened by light rain,
I thank the schoolyard trees
for their modicum of shelter.

Stopping to clean up
after Atty's second squat,
I look up to see him eating an earthworm
and sigh
grateful it's not a cigarette butt.
